Arkoudi is an uninhabited private island of the Teleboides island complex, located south of Lefkada and north of Ithaca, between Ithaca and Meganisi. It is a green island with blue-green waters, of rare beauty, which receives many boat visits during the summer months. Administratively, Arkoudi Greece belongs to the Municipality of Ithaca.

Arkoudi island, although deserted, became famous in Greece and abroad at the beginning of the 20th century from the theory of researchers that it is the Homeric islet of Asterida, the place where Telemachus found refuge when he was chased by the suitors of his mother, Penelope, the wife of Odysseus.

The main reasons on which this theory was based were that Arkoudi is the only island in the area with two twin harbors in the same clockwise direction and that it is located on the approach from Pylos in the middle of two islands that claimed to be Homeric Ithaca and Homeric Sami.

Until the middle of the twentieth century, development efforts had been made on the Arkoudi island, with the construction of roads, paths, the church of Panagia, but also houses and shops during the Italian occupation. Today, Arkoudi has passed into private hands and there have been plans for its tourism development.
